Years ago I was a guest on the Phil Donahue Show, as well as a variety of television and radio talk shows. I spoke about everything from The Good Looking People’s Club, which I co-founded, to Guerrilla Tactics for Women in the Workforce.
“Where’s your book?” my husband asked. He was annoyed that I had a golden opportunity in front of millions of people, and didn’t have a book to showcase.
Since then I’ve worked hard at the craft of writing. I was a journalist covering the Jewish beat in the San Francisco Bay area. I published essays, poetry, and short stories. I finished my master’s degree at Stanford University, going on to teach writing at Western Washington University. I’ve spoken in front of audiences from ten to a thousand. I even raised one or two children.
I am related to a famous Hassidic rabbi and to Larry of The Three Stooges. Maybe that’s why my writing ranges from the spiritual to the zany.
Currently, I am working on two books. I have a simple goal: When I’m on the next talk show or speaking live, I’m holding up my book. Anything to say, “So, there,” to my husband.
